University supports proposals for first phase of Zero Emission Zone

The Red Zone covers a small area – just Queen Street, Bonn Square, Cornmarket, New Inn Hall Street, St Michael’s Street and Ship Street – and will mean all non-zero emission vehicles must pay a daily charge to enter.

The University believes these proposals will be strategically beneficial in terms of a providing healthier environment for staff and students and tackling the climate crisis by reducing transport emissions in the longer term. The adverse effects on its operations should also be minimal, so the University is supporting the proposals.
